Original "Bozo the Clown" Suit and Memorabilia Collection to Be Auctioned by Kaminski Auctions, September 7th

Beverly, Massachusetts (PRWEB) August 19, 2014 -- Bozo the Clown entertained millions of children and families during the character’s decades-long television career. His gravity-defying orange hair, oversized shoes, and blue costume have become iconic in American visual culture, and synonymous with what it means to be a “clown.” Although Bozo has been off the air for over many years, collectors and fan have the opportunity next month to view—and a chance to own—an incredible collection of Frank Avruch‘s Bozo the Clown memorabilia. It was Frank’s innate charm and charisma that catapulted the long running show into a ratings bonanza and eventually into national syndication.

Kaminski Auctions is excited to present the Bozo collection within their 20th Century and Modern Design auction on September 7th. The collection includes the original Bozo the clown costume from the nationally syndicated show, which Frank Avruch wore from 1958 to 1970. Of course, the costume would not be complete without the original orange wig and the oversize shoes. Also included in the collection, are the travel cases hand painted by Carol Spinney, a member of the Bozo cast who went on to play Sesame Street’s Big Bird. The travel cases were used for personal appearances and Bozo’s tour as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador to Asia and South America.

Scrolls from the player piano used in the show, embellished with hand drawn illustrations will also be sold, as will nine vintage autographed records. A unique photo journal documenting Frank’s tour of Asia as Bozo accompanies the collection of props, as does a number of original Bozo the Clown artworks.

Images of the collection, along with a complete auction catalog, will be posted online at kaminskiauctions.com on August 22nd by 8:00pm ET. The auction will take place September 7th starting at 10:00am at the Kaminski Auction gallery 117 Eliott Street, RT.62, Beverly, Massachusetts.
