Smashinglogo is a DIY logo maker designed with ease of use in mind. Even if you have zero design experience, you can fire up this tool and end up with a great-looking logo in less than an hour.

The problem is that hundreds of online tools do the same thing as Smashinglogo, and many do it better. Although the library of fonts and icons is extensive, there aren’t enough advanced customization options to create a truly one-of-a-kind design.

I know most graphic designers work from templates too, but they at least can help you tweak and adjust elements until you have something close to what you’ve envisioned – Smashinglogo can’t do that. The expensive packages don’t help its case either.

If you want a logo as fast as possible and don’t mind it being slightly generic, Smashinglogo might serve you well. In all other cases, I’d recommend hiring a professional on Fiverr1 or another freelance service to work on your design from scratch.

As a logo generator, Smashinglogo is actually quite impressive. Its library of fonts and icons is massive, so you’ll likely end up with a good design. If you like a generated icon but want different typography to go with it, Smashinglogo lets you mix and match elements, which is ideal.

Smashinglogo does more than your average logo generator. But if you want a truly unique and customizable design, consider hiring a professional via Fiverr1.

Massive Library and Decent Customization

An easy way to test the size of a logo designer’s icon library is by issuing similar requests and paying close attention to the elements the tool comes up with each time. Smashinglogo offers great variety in its fonts and icons, and I love how I can play around with colors till I end up with a combination I like. You can even insert HEX codes, which is a huge plus if you want to create a logo true to your brand’s identity.

The Business and Premium packages allow users to insert detailed color information (RGB and CMYK alongside HEX), saving valuable time.

Most assets are high quality (except the ones available on the Lite plan), but I wish there were more customization options. While you can merge icons and easily change the layout, you can’t drag and drop additional elements and effects to your design.

All packages include web-ready files (e.g., transparent PNGs, email and website signatures). More expensive options include print-ready and social media files (e.g., profile pictures and cover photos for all major platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn).

Branding guidelines aren’t set in stone, especially when a business is still in its concept stage, so knowing you can easily change your logo without paying extra is a huge relief.

My Experience with Smashinglogo

If you’ve used a logo generator before, you know how this goes – Smashinglogo doesn’t stray too much from the trodden path. You pick a name and choose your industry, select a design style, and the system will generate several designs for you.

You can test multiple design styles at the same time, and Smashinglogo will just generate more logos. You also get to pick five brand attributes, but I’m almost certain those don’t significantly impact the generated designs – only the color palette.

Smashinglogo’s interface looks good and is super clean, and with it, I managed to create – what I think is – a decent-looking logo.

I fiddled with the generator for over an hour. If you’re not me, you can speed things up by not spending 45 minutes testing every font and color palette available – only to go with your initial choice anyway.

No Need to Sign Up

You don’t need to create an account to design and purchase your logo on Smashinglogo. That simplifies the logo creation process but introduces new challenges. It forces you to use the same device if you want to keep working on your saved designs, and it also makes it difficult to purchase a package via a different device.

That said, if, like me, you’re tired of handing your email address to companies left and right, you’ll enjoy the simplicity of Smashinglogo’s process. Of course, you’ll have the opportunity to create an account once you purchase your design, and you can return to it whenever you like.

Easy Switch Between Types and Styles

Smashinglogo has seven distinct styles based on seven different “virtual designers.” Some specialize in modern, minimalistic designs, while others prefer playful, out-of-the-box ideas. You can pick any combination of three virtual designers at a time, and Smashinglogo will generate a fair number of options for you to choose from.

There’s also a logo-type filter, which limits the total pool of generated logos based on your preference. The three types are icon, monogram, and name-based designs.

Available in 18 Languages

Aside from English, the Smashinglogo website is available in 17 more languages: Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Romanian, Swedish, Turkish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, and Croatian.

While you can contact support in any of the above languages, Smashinglogo notes that you may experience longer response times depending on the language.

You Can Only Contact Their Team Via Email

I hope you like email because that’s the only channel through which you can reach Smashinglogo’s representatives. That said, if you do send an inquiry via email, you probably won’t have to wait too long to receive a reply (availability is Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m., Central European Time).

I sent my first email around 10 a.m. (UK time) and heard back from them less than an hour later. My query was “Does Smashinglogo support gradient colors? If yes, how can I access them?”

A few days later, I contacted Smashinglogo again, asking them to confirm if I have full ownership rights with the Business package. A representative got back to me in about half an hour. They said I could use the purchased logo for any commercial or non-commercial purpose, but Smashinglogo retains ownership of individual assets, such as fonts or icons.

Smashinglogo lacks a knowledge base. Instead, you’ll find a How it works page and an FAQ. But honestly, I don’t see that as a big issue because the generator is so easy to use and you can quickly grasp the platform’s tools.

Smashinglogo’s email support is excellent. What bothers me is the absence of live chat, which would speed things up.

Smashinglogo Is More Expensive Than the Competition

Smashinglogo has a free trial available, but don’t expect much. You only get a low-resolution, watermarked version of your logo that you can’t use anywhere. It’s more of a way to give you a glimpse of the final product (which you have to pay for).

Smashinglogo offers four one-time payment options. The cheapest package includes medium-resolution web-ready files (for your website, blog, and email signature) and all color versions as they appear in the preview.

The Business package is set at $149.00, and it’s the only option worth considering. It includes vector files to print your logo on t-shirts, stationery, and other large surfaces. This mid-tier option also comes with profile pictures and cover photos for all major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. More importantly, it allows you to make unlimited changes to your logo via the post-purchase editor.

The Premium package provides priority support and a 30% price reduction on all upcoming logo purchases. Considering that most companies only require one logo, I’m unsure how this choice can generate considerable value. However, you can share this discount with your friends and family, so it might be worth it if you have people in your circle who need logos too.

Another perk you get with the Premium package is called Rebrand Forever. Basically, if you want a different logo for your business in the future, you don’t have to pay for it again. You can do it as many times as you want, so if you get bored with your logo in a few days, you can change it repeatedly.

Smashinglogo doesn’t offer refunds, but if you contact the support team within 30 days of purchase, you can create and receive a new logo free of charge.

Smashinglogo is quite expensive compared to the competition. It doesn’t run contests or provide any other extras, which makes it difficult to justify the high price tag.
